Managed IT - Supplementing Existing IT Staff

Client: NEWCAP, Inc.
NEWCAP, Inc., is a locally controlled, private, not-for-profit, human services organization incorporated as a Community Action Agency (CAA) in 1965, serving the needs of low-income people in northeast Wisconsin for the last 43 years. NEWCAP represents the following ten Wisconsin-area counties: Vilas, Oneida, Langlade, Menominee, Forest, Florence, Marinette, Oconto, Shawano, and Brown. The federally mandated mission of CAAs is to work toward the elimination of the cases of poverty by enabling and assisting low-income people to attain skills, motivation, and opportunities necessary for them to become self-sufficient and independent. In addition, each CAA, including NEWCAP, may have their own unique mission statement that may differ from agency to agency.
Challenge
One of the biggest challenges that NEWCAP faced was that they had seven locations and each location was acting independently of each other. This caused various communication problems among staff and produced high labor costs due to the effort that was required to maintain the network.
Solution
Infinity consulted with NEWCAP and provided the following solutions:
• Centralized the network for all 7 locations
• Centralized backups
• Centralized access to applications
• Provided the ability to centralize the databases
• Provided client computers that required significantly less effort to maintain (thin clients)
• Provide a secure, generator backed, hosted environment with 24x7 monitoring with proper environmental controls necessary for computer equipment.
• Created a more stable, resilient, scalable network.
• Provided a solution to minimize support costs and improve service delivery by utilizing Managed Care Services.
Results
With the cleanup of the network and the installation of the Managed Services, NEWCAP is now able to focus on what they do best, with Infinity managing all aspects of their internal networks for all locations. Using Managed Services allows Infinity to proactively monitor and fix technology issues for all locations of NEWCAP from Infinity’s main office in Green Bay, WI.
Bob Koller, the Executive Director, was quoted as saying, "This was one of the best decisions our organization ever made".
