Introduction

This case study highlights the advantages of rolling out Managed Services when there is no onsite IT person at the organization. The company that will be highlighted is Pinkert Law Firm. They are a large enough law firm to have a sophisticated system, but small enough to not need a full time IT person. They have just under ten attorneys in their firm.

Background

The organization has a computer network that has to be reliable so that billable service is not impacted. Their network requires occasional IT effort to ensure the systems are running properly. However, the traditional method of delivering service didn't provide the necessary attention to their computer systems. When the technician left, so did some of the attention to their computer network. This exposed the organization to risks such as drive failure without warning, backups not working properly for extending period of time, or security patches not being applied to the system on a regular basis (there are over 250 events that are monitored with Managed Services).

Aims and Objectives

The objective was to somehow have regular monitoring and service to the environment at a price comparable to what they were paying before to ensure maximum uptime and security of their computer systems. That way billable hours would not be impacted and their computer system would be kept current.

Approach

The solution to achieve Pinkert's objective was Managed Services. Managed Services performs constant monitoring of over 250 events which is a much more proactive service delivery model. Issues can be dealt with even before Pinkert Law Firm is aware that issues existed. This helped prevent problems from becoming emergencies. In addition to the constant monitoring, tickets can still be logged for events that require Infinity's reactive response. All of this was done for a consistent monthly price that was just slightly more than what they were previously paying for service.

Success

To this day Pinkert Law Firm is a happy Managed Services client. They are realizing the uptime and security that they were hoping for as a result the computer network being properly monitored and managed. This was all done at a price that was comparable to what they were previously paying for service.
