About GIPAW
Governmental Information Processing Association of Wisconsin (GIPAW) was formed in 1988 when a group of data processing professionals from the northern part of the state met to make a group purchase of tax bills and professionals from the southern part of the state were meeting with state officials to keep the state current on what was happening at the county level. The two groups quickly realized the benefit of an organization of data processing professionals working together to deal with all the issues involving the state of Wisconsin and GIPAW was formed. All county, city, village and township data processing professionals from the state were invited to the first official meeting in 1989. Since that time, state agencies have also become members.
Today, the group provides a forum for the exchange of ideas, information and techniques; enhancements of hardware, software and communication developments as they relate to government activities. Everyone needs help from time to time and GIPAW gives its members a place to seek advice for those issues. This involves all levels of government in a rapidly changing world of information processing technology.
